Safety Tips
In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US) right away. Questeryng can't send help.
Before you meet
- Chat in the app first. Keep conversations in Questeryng until you're comfortable. Reporting only works for things said in the app.
- Look for the "Photo verified" badge. It means a reviewer matched a live selfie to that person's photos. It isn't a background check.
- Protect your personal details. Don't share your home address, workplace, financial details or ID photos with someone you've just met.
- Never send money. Don't send money, gift cards or crypto to anyone you meet on Questeryng, whatever the story. Report anyone who asks.
When you meet
- Meet in public for the first few times: a café, a park, a busy venue or a group activity. In a chat, tap 📍 to find nearby spots marked "Good first-meetup spot", but always check a place yourself.
- Tell someone your plans. Use Share my plans (on any quest or activity, or in a chat's ⋮ menu) to text a trusted contact who, what, where and when. You can set your trusted contact in Settings → Privacy & safety.
- Get yourself there and back. Keep your phone charged, and be able to leave whenever you want.
- Watch your drink and stay in control. It's fine to say no or change your mind at any time.
Side quests and jobs
- Agree on what's involved, when, and any reward before you start.
- For help at someone's home (moving, repairs), bring a friend or tell someone where you'll be.
- Skip anything dangerous, illegal, or that needs a license neither of you has.
- Legitimate jobs never ask you to pay upfront or to "buy equipment" first.
Groups and Tandem
- Meet tandem partners in public, like a café, a library or a language meetup, especially the first few times.
- For group meetups, check who's coming in the group chat, and leave any group that makes you uncomfortable.
- If a closed group's invite link ends up somewhere it shouldn't, the host can make a new code from the group page. That cancels the old link.
Dating
- Dating is only open to photo-verified adults.
- Consent is required at every step and can be withdrawn at any time.
- If something feels off, trust your instincts. Unmatch (chat ⋮ → Unmatch), block and report.
Your privacy tools
- Location: other people only ever see a rough distance, never where you are.
- Invisible mode: turn off "Show me to adventurers nearby" in Settings.
- Your status: make any part of it private.
- Blocking: blocked people can't message you or find you nearby, and their messages are hidden in group chats.
Reporting
Report a person from their profile (⋮ → Report), a quest or activity from its page, or a single message by long-pressing it. Reports are confidential. Content that several people report is hidden until a moderator reviews it. See our Community Guidelines.
